Volunteer

We are looking to expand our reserves base and potentially create new, flexible volunteering roles going forward beyond our traditional roles mentioned below. Please contact us if you would like to know more.

Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis, as well as your own!

If you are interested in volunteering in some capacity, please fill in an application form and send it to us (except supermarket collections, please see below). You will need two referees to give you verbal references as to your suitability to work as a volunteer. Volunteer-Application-Form

Important Note: We don’t currently have any vacancies with Redditch Foodbank. Any applications will be held on record until we are next recruiting.

Helping at a foodbank centre

Our “front line” teams are those who do a range of tasks from meeting clients, packing bags, making drinks and giving out food parcels. We aim to make those who come to us feel as welcome as possible, inviting them to have an informal chat over a cup of tea, and where possible, signpost them to further support. We have enough volunteers at present but are always looking to keep a healthy number of reserves to cover for absences.

Web and Social Media platforms

Our website needs constant attention and we are looking to increase our online presence through Facebook and Twitter. Could your digital skills help communicate our message to a wider audience? You will need to know a little about websites and ideally have experience of using WordPress (though training and support is available).

Liaison roles

We are always seeking to raise our profile amongst schools, churches, local organisations, businesses and supermarkets, and would love anyone passionate about the work of their local foodbank to get in touch if interested in representing us in one of these sectors.

Ad-hoc supermarket volunteers

You may not be able to commit to a regular volunteering slot but we couldn’t do our weekend supermarket collections without a significant number of volunteers passionate about raising awareness for the Foodbank. This doesn’t require a formal application but please contact [email protected] to register your interest.
